Stage IV NB / Stage III NB
Our Story
Prior to 12/15/99, I had never heard of Neuroblastoma. Unfortunately, at this point, I am more familiar with this type of childhood cancer than I would have prefered. Both of my children have been afflicted by this disease. My son, Adam, was diagnosed at the age of 10 on 12/15/99 with Stage IV neuroblastoma and my daughter, Amanda, was diagnosed at the age of 3 on 12/21/99 with Stage III neuroblastoma. Amanda is now in remission after surgery and 6 rounds of chemotherapy. (Stage III is a much more contollable monster than Stage IV neuroblastoma). Adam was not as lucky, however. After surgery, 11 initial rounds of chemo, a stem-cell transplant, radiation, monoclonal antibodies treatment, and many other minor chemotherapy and non-standard treatments, he still passed away on January 8,2004 at the age of fourteen.
Thank you
Thank you for viewing this site. I hope that one day soon, people will be aware and educated on neuroblastoma as they are currently on some of the more well known types of cancers. In my opinion, this "rare" cancer appears to be starting an epidemic. We as a society owe it to our children and families to try to find the cause and cure of this catastrophic disease. By you reading this, we are one step closer to accomplishing that goal. Please tell others what you've read here on this web-site. By continuing the battle to fight neuroblastoma, we will be able to be with the spirit of the children we have lost already, and the children we will lose in the future.
